A Non-Executive Chairman is required for a £1bn turnover quoted food company.

Our client is quoted on the London Stock Exchange and is an international food manufacturer and wholesaler.

Successful candidates will have had a successful career in the international food industry, have worked as a CEO or similar and have substantive Chair experience along with personal gravitas and must be well respected within the industry. The chosen candidate will be expected to have the required depth and breadth experience to challenge the Executive team. The incoming Chair must bring commercial pragmatism and sensitivity to balance large corporate functionality.

The total time commitment is 30-40 days per annum for which the Chair will receive remuneration of £125,000 pa (will be paid in Euros)+ expenses.

Board Meetings are normally held in Luxembourg or London.


1. The Company and its Market:

  • Our client is a £1bn turnover quoted (on the London Stock Exchange) international food manufacturer and wholesaler.
  • The company holds 8 Board Meetings per annum usually in Luxembourg or London plus Audit, Remuneration and Nomination Sub-Committee meetings.


2. The Non-Executive Chairman role

  • Our client is seeking an Independent Non-Executive Chairman to join its main Board. This person will replace an existing Chairman who has stepping down due to ill health.
  • There is a fee for the role of £125,000 pa (will be paid in Euros)+ expenses.
  • The appointment is for an initial 3 year period. This may be renewed by agreement.
  • The Chairman will be expected to Chair 8 Board Meetings pa + Audit and Nomination Sub-Committee meetings. Overall the time commitment is expected to be 3-4 days a month including preparation time; this will increase in the early months where induction will be required. The company will arrange a tailored induction for the successful candidate.
  • The company provides suitable D&O insurance for its Non-Execs.


3. Candidate Requirements:

  • A well respected Director, CEO or similar within the international food manufacturing, retailing and/or wholesaling industry (ideally covering Europe, Middle East and Africa).
  • Substantive Chair experience.
  • Sufficient time availability to commit 3-4 days per month.
